Tenant hospitalize after landlord and caretaker allegedly attacked him over electricity bill

A tenant, Michael Adegunloye, has been hospitalized after he was allegedly attacked by his landlord and caretaker in Ibafo, Ogun State.

It was gathered that the landlord, one Adeshina Adebajo, flew in from his based in France, to attack the victim after the victim refused to pay electricity bill.

According to the victim’s wife, the alleged attack occurred on Sunday, June 27, after her husband renewed their yearly rent but failed to pay the electricity bill, because the electricity in their apparent has been faulty since April, 2020.

“Two weeks ago my husband renewed our yearly rent but he didn’t pay the electricity bill because we haven’t been using light in our apartment since April last year. And we asked the landlord to fix the light in our apartment before we pay.

Also, we usually pay the gate man’s fee to the landlord, but he’s owing the gateman 11 months salary, so my husband decided that instead of paying the money to the landlord, he will pay it to the gateman instead.

Obviously, this didn’t go down well with the landlord. He flew in all the way from France and came to the house with the caretaker, Mr Ajenikoko, and four other men. They descended on my husband and beat him black and blue,” she said. [Swipe]
